The Collab features artist lectures / workshops, a collaborative studio environment, and some exceptional dinner parties. The residency is structured around daily rhythms of devotion and connection, where we will end the day in gathering around the table for a home cooked meal + good conversation.

PRACTICAL INFO

  • Price: Food, accommodation, studio space + materials, lectures, dinner parties, and in-program travel are all included in the program fee. If you feel called to participate in this residency but are concerned about how to fund your way, we encourage you to still apply. We know that God believes in artists and values the arts! Our team would love to walk alongside you in prayer and share any tips + tricks (resources, potential scholarships, etc.) we have for helping you pay your way.

  • Accommodation: This ONE Collab will be hosted at YWAM Herrnhut (Youth With A Mission base) called the Wasserschloss (“Water Castle”); it’s located at the edge of a forest and has access to many walking trails and a large garden. The housing is communal-living (shared rooms and toilets), though there is still space for privacy and alone-time.

  • Food: Meals are included 2x / day (lunch and dinner), beginning with dinner first day and up to brunch on the last day. You will be responsible for covering breakfast and any other meals before or after these dates.

    • All prepared meals with have the supplementary option of gluten-free, dairy-free, or vegetarian. The kitchen is unable to accommodate any other dietary restrictions, outside serious allergies.

  • Studio: The studio is in the attic in the Castle and is accessible for you to create throughout the day. A wide variety of materials / equipment will be provided, but if you are looking to bring something special (an expensive watercolor set, 1950s vintage typewriter, your auntie’s glockenspiel) make room in your luggage to bring these specialty items along.

  • Travel: Because Herrnhut is more remotely located, you will be responsible for travel by bus or train to the closest city. From there, we can pick you up and take you to the Castle! Transport is available to / from the train stations, Löbau (Sachs) or Zittau. You will be responsible for all arrangements up to these stations.

    • For more information about Deutsche Bahn, go to www.bahn.de to plan your train trip.

    • Nearest airports are the following: Dresden (1 hour), Prague (2.5 hours), Berlin (3 hours), Frankfurt (7 hours).
